Allah says: ٱلشَّمْسُ وَٱلْقَمَرُ بِحُسْبَانٍ "The sun and the moon [move] by precise calculation." (Qur’an 55:5)

Modern astronomy, celestial mechanics, and advanced telescopes prove this beyond doubt.
Yet, the so-called "maankykers" (moon sighters) in South Africa reject this reality, clinging to an archaic, unreliable method that results in monthly fiascos.
2. The Evasive Tactics of Scholars & Their Psychological Mechanisms
The scholars who insist on physical moon sighting (despite its failures) do so for three key reasons:
A. Religious Superiority Complex
They refuse to be corrected because admitting error destroys their authority.
They cherish control over the masses, keeping them ignorant of Qur’anic astronomy.
Their Messiah Complex makes them believe only they can declare Eid, despite clear mathematical errors.

Anas bin Malik said: “I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: ‘My nation/ummah will not unite on misguidance, so if you see them differing, follow the great majority.
In this case the Islamic World in the Middle East and all in the Northern Hemisphere—not the Scholars of South Africa—The Ulama Councils are the Minority, including the South African Muslims.
The Majority of Muslims are in the Northern Hemisphere of the Moon not the Southern Hemisphere.

The sky over Cape Town is heavy with clouds, a brooding shroud of gray that mirrors the sorrow in my heart. Yet, in South Africa, they declare Dhul Hijjah on the 4th of June 2025, blind to the sky’s testimony, deaf to the Qur’an’s command. How have we fallen so far? How have we allowed men who cannot calculate the phases of the moon to dictate the days of our worship?
The Genocide in Palestine and the Failure of Unity
"If you claim to stand with Palestine in unity, then why do you ignore the very days when Palestine celebrates Ramadan and the two Eids—Eid al-Fitr (the Festival of Breaking the Fast) and Eid al-Adha (the Festival of Sacrifice)—while Gaza is drowned in genocide? How can you preach unity while betraying the command of Allah in Surah Ali 'Imran (3:103):
'And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided. Remember the favor of Allah upon you—when you were enemies, He united your hearts, so that by His favor you became brothers.'
Has your religious superiority complex blinded you, O Ulama? Have you now appointed yourselves as saviors, a Messiah complex veiled in arrogance, while the Ummah bleeds? Is this not the ultimate betrayal of the Quran you claim to uphold?
What ignorance is this—that you gather in councils of empty speeches, yet refuse to act in true brotherhood? What fools sit upon thrones of self-righteousness while children in Gaza are buried beneath rubble on the very days meant for joy? You recite the verse of unity with your tongues but fracture it with your inaction. Are you not then the greatest betrayers of the Word you swore to follow?
Where is the Hikmah (wisdom) of the scholars? Where is the Shuja’ah (courage) of the believers? If the Ulama remain silent in the face of genocide, whilst Palestine observe all the Holy days a day before South Africa—then they are not scholars—they are courtiers of power, cowards in cloaks of false piety. The Quran does not forgive those who abandon its commands for the sake of political convenience.
Allah has exposed you. History will judge you. And the blood of Gaza will testify against you on the Day when no excuse will suffice." Making a mockery of unity.
The Messiah Complex of the Ulama
They issue fatwas from ivory towers. They have replaced Tawakkul (trust in Allah) with Tawaqquf (hesitation).
The Betrayal of Surah 3:103
The verse commands holding the rope of Allah together, yet they fragment the Ummah with politics, nationalism, and silent complicity.
The Fools Who Rule by Ego
They have forgotten the Hadith: "The scholars are the inheritors of the Prophets" (Tirmidhi)—yet what inheritance is this? The Prophets stood against oppression, while many "scholars" today stand with oppressors.
Condemnation
"If the Ulama abandon Gaza, then they abandon the Sunnah of Rasulullah (ﷺ), who said, 'The believer’s shade on Judgement Day will be his Sadaqah (charity)' (Tirmidhi). But what shade will there be for those who watched the slaughter of Muslims and did nothing?"
While Gaza burns, while children are pulled from rubble with limbs torn and souls extinguished, we bicker over moon sightings. While the oppressors laugh at our disunity, we submit to scholars who use ijma as a weapon—not to unite, but to silence. Not to enlighten, but to control.

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: "Seek knowledge, even if you have to go to China." He did not say, "Blindly follow Scholars."

I write for the one who weeps at the state of the Ummah. I write for the one who refuses to bow to the tyranny of misguided authority.
The Qur’an’s calendar is precise. The moon does not lie. The scholars do.
